Participants in the NORDIWA conferences are water professionals – students, experts, specialists and practitioners. NORDIWA is a unique meeting place for utility staff, city planners, researchers, engineers and others with an interest in wastewater management and climate change adaptation in the Nordic region.

Conference Venue

The conference will be held at the Clarion Hotel Helsinki,  located in the new Jätkäsaari (Busholmen) urban investment district in the central West Harbour area.  Helsinki’s city centre, shops and metro station are just a short walk away. Alternatively you can hop on a tram right next to the hotel.

You can sense the proximity of the sea everywhere, as the city has over a hundred kilometers of shoreline and around 300 islands in its archipelago.

The 2018 Russia–United States summit, a summit meeting between United States President Trump and Russian President Putin, was held in Helsinki on July 2018.

Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority HSY treats wastewater already better than is required at minimum by the authority regulations.

Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority HSY will built Blominmäki treatment plant mainly inside bedrock. The goal is to remove from wastewater over 96% of the phosphorus and organic matter as well as over 90% of the nitrogen it contains. The treatment goals are clearly stricter than the EU requirements and the recommendations of HELCOM (Helsinki Commission).
